Do I need to rent a car for my stay at Yoga Oasis?
If you are on the Detox Package or Eco-Adventure Package,
you do not need a car. Otherwise....

What Should I bring with me ?
Need a passport?
No, if your are flying from inside the US, you do
not need a passport.
What time is check in?
3 - 6 PM. It is very difficult to find Yoga Oasis at night.
If you are arriving to the Big Island late, plan to spend
your first night in Hilo or Kona. If you are a returning guest
or have been to Yoga Oasis before, you can ask about a after
dark check in
Can I sign up for a retreat and a work/exchange
program on the same days?
No, you can only sign up for one program on any given day
or days.
What Kind of Yoga do you teach?
We teach Chi Hatha Yoga. It is a combination of Hatha
Yoga, Pranayamas plus Chi Kung breathing and visualization
techniques. You will learn belly breathing, back breathing,
the bandahs (yoga locks), how to still and focus your mind
and then, how to incorporate all these aspects into into your
Yoga practice. As you practice these techniques you will rejuvenate
your organs, body, and mind.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?
You can if you want. And, we have yoga mats you can use in
our studio.
What level are your classes?
The classes are designed for all levels. During the asana
section of the class the teacher will say level 1 do this,
level 2 do this, level 3 do this, etc... until each student
finds their own personal edge.
What is Yoga Therapy?
This class is taught during the Maha Yoga retreat week or
as a private class. Yoga Therapy is working on healing the
body (past injury) and/or deepen your chosen yoga asana. For
some it may be physical work, others emotional work. During
this class we spend more time in specific asana's for each
individual's needs. You may spend anywhere from 3 - 10 min.
working on one asana. Sometimes we work with yoga props. The
class is split up so people can work at their own pace. The
teacher attends to each personals individual needs. There
is not a set routine for this class, it is based on the needs
of the students.
Do you offer massage?
Yes, we offer Thai Massage, Lomi Lomi massage, spa
treatments and Avocado Salt Glows. Please enquire about making
a booking when you check in.

Will I see any animals at Yoga Oasis?
Yes, we have chickens and forest pigs that sometimes
invite themselves for dinner. There is one small dog ant a
few cats.

Are there bike rentals in the area?
The closest bike rental is in Hilo, about 25 miles
away. So you would need a car to pick up the bike. Sometimes
if you are renting 2 or more bikes for an extended period
of time Bill, the owner, will bring them to Yoga Oasis. His
number is 808-854-3403. Ask for Bill and tell them him you
are staying at Yoga Oasis.

Is
there surfing near Yoga Oasis?
Yes, there is a surf spot 2 miles from Yoga Oasis called Pohoiki
Bay. It is for intermediate or advanced surfers only. It is
a reef break. There is also a surf spot in Hilo. You can rent
surf boards in Hilo at Orchid
Surf Shop (808) 933-9445. Also try craigslist for buying
a cheap board. For beginning surfers or for surfing lessons,
you need to go to the Kona side of the island.
Do you have internet access?
Yes, we have a wireless internet in the main building,
Hawaiian rooms 1 - 4, The Bamboo room and the Bali house.
Just bring your own lap top. You will have to sign a waiver
for our solar system. The wireless does not reach The Cedar
Cabin, Pine Cabin or Coconut Cabin (yet).
Do you have guest laundry service at Yoga Oasis?
If you are on the Detox Package or the Yoga teacher's Training,
laundry is included. For all other guestd,.there is a little
coin laundry in Pahoa (5 miles away) that guest may use. they
also have a fluff and fold service for around $1.50 per pound.
Where is a good place for lunch and
dinner?
The town of Pahoa, just 5 miles away, has great little restaurants
to eat. You can find anything for the vegan, raw food, vegetarian
and omnivore. There is a great health food store and deli.
There are 2 Thai restaurants, Mexican, raw food cafe that
has no regular hours, pizza place, and more little cafes,
etc.. The city of Hilo, 25 miles away has even more food choices.
Do you have drop in classes open to the general public?
Yes, Monday - Friday 8 - 10 AM is our general class.
Please call first to confirm the schedule. Drop in is $12.
What is your deposit and refund policy?
If you cancel more than 30 days in advance there is no charge.
If you cancel less than 30 days in advance there are charged
50% of the room fee.
If you cancel less than 14 days in advance you are charged
100% of the room fee.
The charges are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Do
you recommend any places to stay in Oahu (near Honolulu)?
There is one bed breakfast and yoga place on the
north shore, click on link above. Or, just search the net,
there are endless amount of accommodations.
I'm arriving late into Hilo and will
not be able to get to Yoga Oasis before dark. Do you know
of any places to stay?
Yes, there are many places to stay in Hilo. For those on a
budget there is Arnott's
Lodge. A little nicer there is Uncle
Billy's.
